The 468MG is the first ball head in the world to incorporate a hydraulic system to lock the ball mechanism in place.
Using hydraulics instead of a mechanical approach produces a super-tight lock with minimal amounts of knob turning. The effect produced is a smooth moving ball, but when locked, essentially becomes a solid part with the head. Designed to meet the demands of professional photographers who require a light weight head but at the same time being able to support their heavy camera loads up to 16kg (468MG model)!
The 468MG borrows the popular features found on the Manfrotto standard range of ball heads such as independent pan and tilt locks with a 360° pan movement and +90° / -90° tilt movement. To keep weight low, the head is made of magnesium; and to provide those icy-smooth movements, the 2" aluminum ball is Teflon coated. For additional control, a calibrated adjustable tension knob allows you to preset the ball friction to suit your camera weight so that when the friction is set, you can remove your hands from the camera without the camera falling. The oversized ball locking knob allows for easy control even when using gloves.
Completing this masterpiece is a graduated engraved panoramic base and a choice of six different Hydrostat Ball Head versions with fixed or quick-release camera attachment systems. The 468MG fixed attachment system also offers considerable improvements on our previous version, with an easy-to-grip notched ring that turns the camera mounting retractable 1/4"-3/8" screw making it easier to mount your camera to the head.
