New Canon R5 and R6: find the best tripod head match!

For the past few days, there has only been one topic everybody in the imaging world is talking about: the new Canon announcement for the R5 and R6. Designed to be full-frame mirrorless versions of the famous EOS 5D and EOS 6D series of DSLRs, they both offer a long list of exciting features for professional as well as amateur photographers.

Tripods and tripod heads for new Canon R5 and R6

First up, the Canon R5. The standout feature here is that it is as powerful for video as it is for still pictures. It can internally record 8K RAW videos up to 29.97fps and 4K at up to 120fps in 10-bit. If you're using this camera as a video support, we suggest pairing with some high-quality fluid video solutions such asthe Pro Nitrotech 608 Fluid Video Head with continuous counterbalance system (in accessorized configurations or with long lenses) or the Manfrotto 502 Fluid Video Head(in light camera configurations).

Another fundamental element of the Canon R5 is the new 45 megapixel, full-frame CMOS Sensor, which guarantees very high quality images. However, if you want to get the best results, the sturdiness of the tripod and the precision of the head you choose are really important. We recommend the Manfrotto 190go! Carbon tripod with an XPRO Magnesium Ball Head.

If you are still not sure about switching from a DSLR to this mirrorless body, then we’d draw your attention to the Dual Pixel CMOS AFII, which provides continuous tracking autofocus in all recording modes. It uses Deep Learning Technology to provide Face and Eye detection over 100% of the frame and can recognise animals or people, automatically adjusting focus to ensure a super sharp image and a smooth, professional result. This alone might be enough to make you consider changing all your equipment!

Have a look at all Manfrotto photo tripod heads, video tripod heads, photo tripods and video tripods and learn how to choose the perfect tripod head for you.

Canon R6: ideally suited to nature, wildlife and sports photography

Versatile and particularly suited for Nature, Wildlife & Sports Photography, the Canon R6 camera supports 4K video recording at up to 60fps. If you're buying for video, we’d recommend matching it with the 500 Fluid Video head + Alu Single Leg Tripod Kit.
The R6 also includes a 20.1-megapixel full frame CMOS sensor instead of the R5’s premium 45-megapixel sensor. So if you're mainly intending to shoot stills, you can pair with a compact and easy-to-use support such as theBefree GT XPRO Aluminium Tripod.
With a considerably lower price and a similar design, the R6 can be a great option if 8K isn’t a priority. The viewfinder resolution drops to a still-solid 3.69 million dot while the touchscreen is slightly smaller and lower-res at 3 inches and 1.62 million dot.
